Familiarity with Iranian Amateur Astronomical Society-IAAS
Iran Amateur Astronomical Society(IAAS) is a non government & the first registered and official center of amateur Astronomy in Iran that has started its unofficial programs since mid 1990’s and has started its official activities since July.23, 2001 and now due to continuous attempts of its members is regarded as independent center in Iran so that its activities is officially recognized by Education & Research Commission of Consultative Assembly & Physics Planning Committee of High Council of Planning at Ministry of Science, Research & Technology. It is to be noted that this scientific center was established in Iran when there was no other official astronomy societies and establishing this center created great hope in which at the present time upon suitable planning our center has many members which is among our great honors. Some of the advantages of our service during these years are whereas follows:
1- Developing and popularizing astronomy science (The goal of establishing our Society is transferring astronomy science from universities, observatories, laboratories and books for public people, since sky is located on top of all human and it is right of everyone to enjoy it and amateur astronomy belongs to all people).
2- Providing up-to-date astronomy issues (providing up-to-date and authentic amateur astronomy in the field of informing, training and research is the principal approach of IAAS during these years)
Goals and activities of association since date of establishment were based on attempt, self-belief, discovering talents, educating interested teenagers and youth to this science, following up affairs of enthusiastic members, management and cooperation with excellent astronomy professors of Iran.
Activities of Association:
* Holding Astronomy Training Courses: (Introductory, astronomy photography, calculation astronomy, observatory astronomy), diverse advanced astronomy courses, radio astronomy, astronomy Olympiad in which up to now several training classes have been held
* Introductory definition for familiarity of amateur persons with initial discussion in amateur astronomy, Medium Level such as: familiarity with discussion including amateur astronomy, observatory astronomy, calculation astronomy, astronomy photography and Advanced Level such as: graduates of medium level may continue their training in one of the following majors astrophysics, observing crescent, advanced astronomy, cutting mirror, constructing telescope
* Astronomy Olympiad: Preparing students for attending at national and global Olympiad
* Holding several regular training, competitive and tours out of capital preferably next to historical buildings
* Holding hundreds of night observations by cooperation of Cultural Art Organization of Tehran Municipality in parks, cultural centers, universities and scientific training centers with the goal of developing astronomy science
* Holding series of seminars and conferences at different scientific level such as meeting for commemoration of Iran astronomy and acknowledgment of scientific services of contemporary important persons in the field of astronomy at regional, civil and international level
* Scientific support of amateurs through Internet database: Providing articles at different sections of astronomy, training and research articles, providing authentic and up-to-date news
* Cooperation with municipalities of different districts, Cultural Art Organization of Tehran Municipality and other training centers of Iran
* Commemoration of astronomy day and acknowledgment of great thinkers in history of astronomy science of Iran, executing special observation programs, training and conferences in global astronomy year(year 2009)
* Providing journals, monthly periodicals (observation information, monthly observing moon crescent), astronomy articles, bulletin based on different occasions (astronomy day, commemoration of Khajeh Nasiredin Tousi) that is only provided to association members
* Showing 4 historical astronomy stamps as commemoration of global astronomy year that is published by cooperation IAAS with Post Co. of Iran by presence on Khajeh Nasiredin Tousi day (Feb.24, 2010)
* Cooperation with newspapers, journals, Iranian and foreign news agencies
* Continuous cooperation with universities, schools, scientific training centers, special centers (kindergartners, old people houses, blind centers)
* Providing valid astronomy software with diverse topics in Persian and English language within applied, training software, film that is among achievements of software team of our association

* Providing optic tools with different abilities with spare parts, different type of domestic and foreign uranorama with mobile and fixed dome with diameter of 20m
